Worked on beginning shots Animatic
I built an animatic using online motion capture – includes Mixamo and Zebra motion capture on Open3Dmodel.com. On maya I started adding motion capture from Mixamo to a previous character I made. The character is dressed in a jacket wearing high boots. However I didn’t add the beard, as its only a preview, and slows the computer down when Im on Maya. I applied zebra motion capture onto the reindeers rudolph and dasher. I created the first part where Santa is riding through the blizzard and crashes into the mountains. I thought the animatic first shot was really cool. My teacher perhaps told me that I should extend the sequence, but I wanted us to see the results after. I did this to make audiences feel intrigued and eager to watch what happens next. The fair distance low angle shot of Santa riding in the blizzard, establishes his actions but in no particular details. I thought this would excite audiences much more. However I believe that the animation maybe too quick and would need to be extended in either through animating when Santa rides in the blizzard longer or showing different camera angles of the same shot. I then after applied some simulations through after effects, creating the blizzard in Blender and using online footage of fire. I masked the explosion, and placed it in the scene so that the fire shows where it impacts as the sledge breaks down.

Workshop with Ben on Camerawork (DAY 3)
We went through the frame sizes. Never jump from a longshot to a close up, it needs to be longshot to a medium. I also learnt the golden ratio, the rule of thirds, 180 degree rule and We tested focal length in the park.” Learnt about the focal length chart where u can shoot on the camera.
Workshop with Kelvin on Reinterpreting Composition (DAY 3)
Colour expresses a lot of power and looked at many examples. Warm vs cool. 70% is cool/warm colours and 30% is contrasting colours. We looked at the concepts of Coco and how colours and lights create the scene. Blues and greens, yellows are cool and calm pallete whilst the red and orangy are more firey and aggressive. I went through different basic colour schemes such as Complementary, Tradic, Analogues and Monchromatic.

Also went through the symbolism of colours and meanings of positives and negatives. We learnt how to use the adobe colour pallete and learned to pick out the main colours, which can be really useful when it comes to creating concepts and having a set lighting structure for the final major project.
